London borough chief executive charged with possession of Class A drug and driving offences
The chief executive of Lambeth Council, Bayo Dosunmu, has been arrested and charged with a series of driving and drug offences.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Dosunmu, 46, was arrested in the Westminster area on Sunday (23 June).
The police force charged the chief executive on Monday with possession of a Class A drug, being the driver of a vehicle that failed to stop after a road accident, and being in charge of a motor vehicle with an alcohol level above the proscribed limit.
The police force also charged him with using a motor vehicle on a road or public place without third-party insurance.
He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 1 August.
A spokesperson for Lambeth Council said: “Bayo Dosunmu is currently away from work and the council has put in place interim leadership arrangements.
“We are unable to make any further comment due to an ongoing police investigation.”
Bayo Dosunmu has been approached for comment.
