Walker Morris successfully represented the Secretary of State in the Government's "landmark" proceedings (BBC News article here), and have been instructed to issue, what is understood to be, the first remediation order application on behalf of a local authority.
We're kicking off our two-part series on Powers in the BSA – Remediation Orders, Making Building Safe, with members of our BSA team alongside renowned Fire Safety Engineer, Al Brown.
The BSA introduced Remediation Orders (ROs) to help address fire safety defects and two years on from the introduction of the BSA there have been some notable successes. For those working in and for local authorities and the fire and rescue services, this session will help you better understand how ROs can assist in getting remediation works undertaken.
Together, we'll consider issues including:
• What's the qualifying criteria, effectively use of expert evidence and enforcement;
• The inter-relationship with Housing Act powers; and
• Quality of Inspection Reports/FRAEW and gathering of Technical Evidence
The session will be followed by a Q&A with the panel.
Part 2 – Paying for Remediation - Remediation Contribution Orders and Building Liability Orders
Keep an eye out for an invitation to our second webinar on mastering the powers in the BSA, exploring how to recover the costs of addressing building safety defects.
